At 0545hrs. Station 46 alerted to assist with a working structure fire in the City of Monongahela. Engine 46 responded and was assigned to the A side for fire suppression with with two 2 1/2 handlines. Crew worked the handlines for around an hour until Command 62 requested the handlines shut down. Engine 46 was sent to lay a line from Parkinson Street to feed Ladder 14 and Engine 66-6. Crews remained on scene until released around 1330hrs.

The year started off on a different type of response for 2013 as we were activated to assist Fallowfield Twp. V.F.C. and the Washington County CART Team with a horse that needed assistance getting up. Command requested our low pressure lifting cushions. The horse was removed from the barn utilizing a 4:1 hauling system and then with some assistance stood up on its own power. Job well done fellows!!!
Shortly after 7 the Somerset Fire District(Ellsworth VFC, Fallowfield VFC, Valley Inn VFD) were alerted for a house on fire off of Rutan Road. Ellsworth was first to arrive to confirm the dispatch and report that the building was well involved and partially collapsed. Crews worked to extinguish the remainder of the building and overhaul the structure. Additional tankers were requested from Lone Pine VFD and Marianna VFC. Fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
In the early morning hours of November the 4th we were requested along with Ellsworth VFC to Somerset Township to assist with a horse that was trapped in a ditch. Also called to assist was the Washington County CART Team with assistance from the North Strabane FD and Fallowfield Township VFC. The horse "Joe" was successfully rescued and walked into the barn under his own power. Great job by all that assisted!!
Nottingham Township: A approximately 4 PM. The accident occurred at the intersection of Valley View Road and Patterson Road in Nottingham Township. Fire fighters from Valley Inn Volunteer Fire Department and personel from Peters Twp Ambulance Service responded and used emergency rescue tools to free the driver from the vehicle. Around 0315hrs Station 46 along with New Eagle, Monongahela, and Carroll Township Fire Departments were activated for a residential structure fire in the Borough of New Eagle. Monongahela Police arrived first confirming working fire. Engine 46 arrived and was assigned to the rear of the structure with Truck 63(Carroll Twp.). Fire extinguished and crews remained on scene until 0645hrs. Also assisting was Tri Community Ambulance and Elrama Fire Company was on stand at 14 house.
Around 11:30 Engine 46 was requested for a station fill at "The 11 House" a.k.a. Bentleyville, while they were working a structure fire at the old Castle Blood in the Borough. The crew from Engine 46 established an additional water supply from the static water source behind Station 11 and kept the residents in the Borough safe while standing by in a high state of readiness.

Mother Nature's windy condition kept the volunteers busy handling various incidents throughout our response areas. The chaos began around 1945hrs Wednesday and continued throughout the night finishing up about 0800 Thursday morning. At 19:25, Station 46 was dispatched to assist with a motor vehicle accident on Turnpike 43 with roll over. Engine 46-2 arrived onscene and Captain 2 cancelled all additional 46 units. Station 46 dispatched to Route 136 in the area of the Mingo Inn for a two vehicle accident with reported injuries, one person slumped over the wheel. Chief 46-1(Curcio) arrived on scene with one vehicle blocking the roadway and the other about a quarter mile away blocking the roadway with all patients out of vehicles.
