Tanker Assist
Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Shortly after 1am Station 46 was alerted to assist the Union Township Fire District, Finleyville and Elrama, with a tanker for a reported structure fire on Houston Run Road. Chief 24 arrived, established command, and advised of smoke showing. Upon the arrival of Chief 46(Curcio), command reported fire out and requested Tanker 46 to proceed to placement behind Engine 14(New Eagle). Crews from Tanker 46 and Squad 46 assisted with ventilation and lighting. Fire was quickly placed under control and crews remained on scene to help place units back in service. All 46 units were on scene for about an hour and 45 minutes. Also assisting was Jefferson Hills EMS.

The year started off on a different type of response for 2013 as we were activated to assist Fallowfield Twp. V.F.C. and the Washington County CART Team with a horse that needed assistance getting up. Command requested our low pressure lifting cushions.

Shortly after 7 the Somerset Fire District(Ellsworth VFC, Fallowfield VFC, Valley Inn VFD) were alerted for a house on fire off of Rutan Road. Ellsworth was first to arrive to confirm the dispatch and report that the building was well involved and partially collapsed.

In the early morning hours of November the 4th we were requested along with Ellsworth VFC to Somerset Township to assist with a horse that was trapped in a ditch. Also called to assist was the Washington County CART Team with assistance from the North Strabane FD and Fallowfield Township VFC.

Shortly before 1400hrs Station 46 activated to assist in the Borough of Donora which had 3 structures on fire. Engine 46 arrived in the Borough and was assigned to stretch an additional 5 inch supply line to Truck 63(Carroll Twp.) and pump the hydrant.

Shortly after midnight the Somerset Fire District was alerted for a structure fire at 62 Digger Lane in the Township. Chief 47(Fleming) was first to arrive, confirm working fire, and establish Digger Lane Command.

Mother Nature's windy condition kept the volunteers busy handling various incidents throughout our response areas. The chaos began around 1945hrs Wednesday and continued throughout the night finishing up about 0800 Thursday morning.

At approximately 1300 hrs. Station 46 was alerted for a one vehicle accident, rollover, with injuries in Nottingham Township. As the Rescue was going in service dispatch updated the call to have entrapment.

At 1825hrs station 46 alerted for a trailer fire in the Dunkirk section of the township which brought along Carroll Township Fire on initial dispatch. Chief 46-1(K.Bryan) arrived with a working trailer fire and advised Engine 46 hydrant in front of structure.

At 19:25, Station 46 was dispatched to assist with a motor vehicle accident on Turnpike 43 with roll over. Engine 46-2 arrived onscene and Captain 2 cancelled all additional 46 units. Engine 2 provided traffic control and lighting for State Police and the tow truck.

Station 46 dispatched to assist Monongahela(62) with a reported structure fire on the seventh floor of Monongahela Manor "The Highrise." Squad 46 went with a crew of 3 and recieved updates that the fire was contained to trash can per Command 62.
